In the United States, saying Merry Christmas starts right after the Thanksgiving day. The next day is “Black Friday”, hailed by stores to make profit. On the following Sunday, Christian churches observe the beginning of Advent which lasts on the 5th Sunday during the Christmas week.The finale of Christmas holiday celebration is December 25, when Christian familes gather to attend church services and eat Christmas dinner together. In other Christian countries, however, Christmas spirit lingers and celebration lasts up to January 6th, the day recorded to be the Magis visit to the house where Jesus was laid to offer gifts of gold, frankinscence and myrrh.

 

Thanksgiving Holiday was declared by Congress to be the 4th Thursday of November. While the celebration is topped by the famous Macy’s Parade in New York City and the widely televised football game, thanksgiving follows still the family tradition of eating together a thanksgiving meal with turkey as the main dish on the table.
